1. Diegesis:
• This is the story world e.g: the world of ice age
• How real the diegesis appears is linked to the level of verisimilitude (which means the apperamce of being real)
2. Diegetic sound:
• This is sound that appears as though it is coming from within the story world of the film or TV programme.
• Dialogue
-Accent (The way that someone speaks, this can symbolise the time, eyre, place and type of person)
-Dialect
• Sound effects (Inludes foley sound).
• These are added production and post productipm to create meaning. sound effects amd dialogue in particular are planning carefully during preproduction
• off screen sound
3. Non-diegectic sound:
• This is when the sound is clearly not coming from within the world story world.
• Incidental music (Background music/soundtrack which is played of the film)
• Non-diegetic sound effects
• These are added at the stage of post production to create meaning for the audience.
•Sound motif
4. Examples of diegetic sound from my film
• The phone rings, this is diegetic as the character can hear it
• The bell in the background, is the sound of the boat, the chatacters can also hear this
• The waves crashing on the boat is another thing the characters can hear
