Task 4 starter 05.12.14

Definition;
Convergence is when 2 things come together. e.g. two companies joining together. (Two things come together to make one.)

-To define key terms, distribution, technological, convergence and promotion.

-To identify the methods of distribution of your film.

-To identify the ways in which your film is promoted

-To construct the script

Two definitions of Distribution;
How the product reaches the audience.
How it is advertised and promoted.
 
Film can get to us by;
-Cinema (e.g. Cineworld, Odeon)
-Internet (e.g. YouTube, Netflix, Blimpbox, Love Films, Streaming) Pay per View. Can view these on computer, phone, tablet, laptop, TV
-DVD (Home entertainment)
-TV (e.g. On Demand. Sky. Virgin. Talk Talk. BT)
 
Analogue methods - Old media (None computerized. Non digital.)
Digital methods - New media
VHS -  Video Home System.

Technological convergence - When technologies come together and this provides new services for the audience (smartphone – phone, computer, web)
 

Digital Native - Someone who has grown up with technology and they are used to it (Born Post 1996)
 

The internet was invented in 1991 Sir Tim Berners Lee by 1995 companies started using the internet to promote their company.

David Gauntlett (2002) discussed the rise of Web 2.0.
-This is the change in the internet being a static, one way form of communication to a two way interactive medium.

-Try and apply ideas about how audiences now also contribute to the marketing of your film.
